Our panels, decorative surfaces and engineered wood products are used every day in furniture, flooring, interiors and construction projects around the world.

As the world leader in the production of wood-based panel products, we are seeking a conscientious and analytical individual to support the management of our Resin and Formalin department — driving efficiency, quality and safety across the plant.

  • Support the Resin and Formalin Manager in the day-to-day running of the Resin and Formalin plants
  • Supervise and coordinate plant operators, assigning priorities to meet production demand
  • Troubleshoot routine production issues, breakdowns and batch recovery
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues, keeping output within set control parameters
  • Develop and trial new resin recipes to solve MDF, PB and VITS production challenges, and improve chemical consumption and efficiency
  • Organise and prioritise routine and breakdown maintenance alongside the Plant Manager
  • Maintain high standards of plant safety, housekeeping and compliance (COMAH, IPPC) at all times
  • Manage stock control, chemical ordering and month-end stock reporting
  • Support shutdown planning and execution
  • Liaise with external agencies as required
  • Coach, train and support the appraisal of technicians and operators
  • Provide shift cover on a relief basis where required
What we're looking for:

Essential
  • Degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Science or Engineering, or substantial relevant in-job experience
  • At least 3 years' experience in a chemical process plant (preferably Formalin and Resin)
  • Working knowledge of formalin process and product chemistry
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, engineering standards and COMAH principles
  • Strong people-management skills, with the ability to lead, coach and motivate a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business
  • A proactive, analytical approach, with the ability to work under pressure and resolve issues efficiently
Desirable
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with Siemens control and batch control systems
What we offer:
  • Competitive remuneration package including work-based pension
  • Full-time contract, Monday to Friday
  • Continued training, professional development and opportunities for career progression within the Resin and Formalin department
  • The opportunity to work with, and learn from, industry-leading people committed to excellence
