Youth Engagement Lead

Role Description

Groundwork North Wales is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Youth Engagement Lead to

support the delivery of environmental and conservation volunteering opportunities for young

people across North East Wales. This role will work with the Reserves Team to support volunteers

who are younger and also those of all ages who are neurodivergent or living with mental health

challenges, such as anxiety, depression, low confidence, or social isolation, which can make joining

a volunteer group feel overwhelming. The purpose of the role is to provide tailored, one-to-one

support to help volunteers move from initial induction into fully taking part in our group

volunteering sessions across our Wrexham, Flintshire, and Denbighshire nature reserves.

• Support high-quality environmental and conservation volunteering programmes for young

people aged 16+

• Recruit, induct, mentor and support young volunteers participating in environmental, community and conservation projects.
• Build positive and supportive relationships with young people, providing informal education, guidance and development opportunities.
• Support young volunteers to identify personal goals and progression opportunities into employment, education, training and further volunteering.
• Ensure activities are inclusive and accessible to young people from diverse backgrounds and those facing multiple barriers.

• Recruit and support learners aged 19–20 into adult community learning programmes, skills development opportunities and accredited training.
• Provide information, advice, guidance and ongoing learner support to improve participation, retention and progression.
• Work closely with community partners to identify individuals who would benefit from learning opportunities.
• Support learners who may lack confidence, face social isolation, have been disengaged from learning or experience barriers to progression.
• Monitor learner journeys, outcomes and progression into volunteering, training, employment or further education.
• Ensure activities are planned and delivered in accordance with safeguarding, health and safety and organisational policies.

• Network effectively to increase engagement opportunities and referral pathways.
• Represent Groundwork professionally at meetings, events and partnership forums.
• Promote the organisation's youth, volunteering and community learning programmes across the region.

• Collect evidence of impact including case studies, participant feedback and outcome data.
• Ensure all monitoring information is completed in line with funding and quality requirements.
• Contribute to reporting against project targets and performance measures.

• Ensure compliance with organisational safeguarding, health and safety, equality and data protection policies.
• Complete risk assessments and ensure safe delivery of all activities.
• Promote the health, safety and wellbeing of volunteers, learners and participants.
• Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns in accordance with organisational procedures.

• Attend training and professional development relevant to the role.
• Support wider Groundwork projects and events when required.
• Work flexibly across programmes including occasional evenings and weekends.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the line manager
