The post holder will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence‑based nursing care, working collaboratively and co‑operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families. The role also involves assisting with the management and organisation of the clinical area, participating in education, development and supervision of other staff members, and ensuring the Fundamentals of Care are maintained to a high standard.
The successful candidate will work as a Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse on Mason Ward (Internal Rotation) Surgical Ward, with a Trauma and Orthopaedics specialty. Responsibilities include mentorship of Student Nurses, preceptorship of newly qualified nurses and support of the ward sister in the overall management of Mason Ward.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

Person Specification QualificationsEssential Criteria
- NMC Registered Nurse
- Evidence of a degree‑level qualification or working towards this within an agreed time frame.
- Evidence of CPD holds or actively working towards a relevant Post‑graduate Diploma, to be completed within an agreed timeframe.
- Management qualification or experience.
- Experience in multidisciplinary team setting.
- Experience/knowledge of senior nurse role.
- Ability to speak Welsh.
- IT skills.
- Ability to manage resources.
Essential Criteria
- Significant experience of working in the clinical specialty or a relevant nursing role.
- Ability to demonstrate application of improvement methodology.
- Experience in a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Experience/knowledge of senior nurse role.

- Ability to communicate and receive complex information.
- Ability to diagnose a problem and take corrective action.
- Ability to analyse assessment results and transfer them into relevant packages of care.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
