an opportunity has arisen for permanent band 6 sister/ charge nurse for morris ward. Morris ward is a 27 bedded care of the elderly ward which includes 6 frailty beds. We work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team focusing on safe and effective discharge of our patients.
all applicants must be a registered nurse, with at least 2 years experience as a band 5 and meet the job description person specification.
post – permanent
-37.5hours per week.
applicants will be required to undertake preceptorship of newly qualified nurses, mentorship of student nurses whilst also assisting the senior sister in managing the ward ensuring that the fundamentals of care are maintained to a high standard.
main duties of the jobtakes responsibility for a ward or equivalent sphere of nursing, in the absence of the person who has continuing (24 hour) responsibility at band 7.
responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluating programmes of care. Responsible for managing a group of staff in the absence of the ward sister.
you will be supported by the ward manager, practice development nurse and matron to undertake professional and personal development opportunities, and be supported to undertake postgraduate academic courses.
the ward offers different learning opportunities as well as a chance to develop management and leadership skills.
the post holders will be expected to deliver care of the highest standard and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. As a clinical sister / charge nurse you will ensure that you carry out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring that high qualities, current evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided from admission through to discharge.
