About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Social Worker / Experienced Social Worker to join the Fostering Service. The Fostering Service plays a vital role in achieving safe and positive outcomes for children and young people. Some of its functions include the recruitment of foster carers, the assessment, training and support of Generic Foster Carers, Champion Foster Carers, Connected Foster Carers, families with Special Guardianship Orders, Supported Lodgings Hosts and When I’m Ready Foster Carers.

The Fostering Service comprises 4 dedicated hubs, each of which has differing functions, roles and responsibilities. As a Social Worker within the Fostering Service, you will be based within one of these dedicated Hubs but could also move between Hubs depending on the needs of the service. The post holder will benefit from supportive colleagues and management and a positive working environment.

We have a career grade for social workers where, based on specialist awards/qualifications or evidenced equivalent skills, knowledge and experience, a successful candidate can be appointed as either Social Worker (G09) or Experienced Social Worker (G10). Please refer to the job description and person specification for more details and confirm at the start of your Experience Statement section of the application form which role you are applying for.

Don’t worry if you don’t currently meet the criteria/equivalent experience requirements for the Experienced Social Worker role. The Council is committed to the development of its social workers and has in place a supportive management environment and a Social Worker progression framework to support your future career development.

An Enhanced DBS check & Social Care Wales registration is required for this position.

The Council is committed to developing its bilingual workforce and welcomes applications from candidates who demonstrate their capability to work in both English and Welsh. Applications submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.
