Experienced Social Worker – Looked After Children About the Role

Wrexham County Borough Council are seeking an experienced Social Worker for the Looked After Children team. The successful candidate will be motivated, anti‑discriminatory, anti‑oppressive and will advocate for children and young people. Good assessment skills are required.

The role is on a permanent contract with flexible, hybrid working. Pay range is £41,771 – £45,091 per annum with an additional recruitment incentive payment of £6,600. A retention incentive of £3,300 may also be payable on the anniversary of appointment.

Responsibilities

Provide assessment, planning, intervention and support for looked‑after children and support families. Work as part of a professional team of experienced social workers and support staff. Attend regular team meetings, supervision and informal discussions. Contribute to a positive working environment and maintain effective teamwork.

Qualifications
  • Provisional registration with Social Care Wales and a DBS check (Enhanced).
  • Experience in a Looked After Children or similar setting.
  • Commitment to the rights and outcomes of looked‑after children.
  • Strong assessment, advocacy and anti‑oppressive practice skills.
