Practice Educator

Practice Educator – Social Work Practice Education

30 hours per week. Fixed Term until 31st March 2028.

We are seeking to appoint a qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Practice Educator to join our Social Work Practice Education Team within Workforce Development. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about developing the next generation of social workers and supporting the ongoing professional development of qualified practitioners.

Applicants must be registered with Social Care Wales or be willing to register.

• Provide regular supervision and support to students.
• Conduct direct observations of practice.
• Liaise effectively with onsite mentors, managers and university tutors.
• Assess students' written work and professional development.
• Complete Practice Educator reports at the end of each placement.
• Participate in Practice Assessment Panels.
• Review and assess student portfolios.
• Assess post‑qualifying awards, including the Practice Educator Award and Consolidation Award programmes.
• Support the ongoing development of high‑quality practice learning opportunities across the sector.
• Manage complex situations and work collaboratively with a range of partners.
• Make sound professional judgements and maintain high standards of practice.

• Registered with Social Care Wales or willing to register.
• Experience managing complex situations and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent understanding of the National Occupational Standards and commitment to the Codes of Professional Practice.
• Strong analytical and assessment skills.
  • Capability to assess written work, portfolios and performance.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Commitment to inclusive and equitable practice.
• Demonstrated capability to work in both English and Welsh is desirable.

This post is funded through the Social Care Wales Workforce Development Programme (SCWWDP) Grant and the Practice Learning Opportunities Fund (PLOF), which support training, learning and qualifications across the social care sector in Wrexham.

Internal secondment opportunities will be considered depending on service requirements.
