Second Level Youth Support Worker- Participation
Salary: £11,126 - £12,298
About the Role14.8 hours a week.
Temporary until 31st March 2027.
Job Purpose:
To offer informal educational opportunities to young people, enabling them and allowing them to explore and develop their skills knowledge, attitudes and responsibilities; ensuring the delivery of the guiding principles for a modern Youth and Play Service in Wrexham
Dimensions:
- Could have line management responsibilities for no more than 4 Level 1 Youth Support Workers including supervision.
- The post holder will have awareness of safeguarding procedures, health & safety and equalities.
- Post holder may have responsibilities for resources used for operational purposes.
- May be involved in selection panels for recruitment of Level 1 Youth Support Workers or volunteers
Qualifications/
Experience:
Level 3 Certificate in Youth Work Practice (Wales) is essential but in exceptional circumstance, other relevant experience of working with young people and/or relevant qualifications may be considered and approved by a senior manager
Requirement of Appointment:
Successful candidates who do not already hold the Level 3 Certificate in Youth Work Practice (Wales) will be required to enrol on and successfully complete the qualification to maintain EWC registration in accordance with Welsh Government requirements. Subject to continued funding.
Context Statement:
Work in partnership with Line Manager to plan and implement the appropriate curriculum to meet the needs of young people including;
- Providing unit or project plans for curriculum delivery
- Provide needs and risk assessments where appropriate
- Work flexibly across various settings as directed by Line Manager
Tasks Specific to the Role
- Level 2 Participation Youth Worker:
- Lead on youth participation opportunities within community groups and partner organisations.
- Support involvement in Senedd yr Ifanc and youth voice activities.
- Support Facilitation of UNCRC, consultation and engagement sessions, ensuring young people's views influence decision-making.
- Support participation activities in secondary schools across Wrexham.
- Assist with training and workshops that promote participation, co-production and youth voice.
- Support the operation of Senedd yr Ifanc committees and groups, including meeting facilitation and action planning.
Role
Purpose:
To support youth participation across Wrexham by promoting young people's rights, strengthening youth voice, and ensuring young people influence local, regional and national decisions through schools, community settings and Senedd yr Ifanc.
An Enhanced DBS & EWC registration is required for this position.
