Duty Officer

The Service

Wrexham County Borough Council Occupational Therapy Team supports citizens with a wide range of needs, including older people requiring reablement and children and young people with disabilities. The team works in partnership with health, housing, and social care services to promote independence and wellbeing.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Duty Officer within the Occupational Therapy Team. This post provides a key point of contact for citizens and carers referred to the service.

The post holder will provide information and advice at initial contact and during follow-up enquiries. You will work alongside experienced Occupational Therapists and the Assistant Team Manager to support the prioritisation of citizens on the Occupational Therapy waiting list.

The role includes responding to queries, monitoring changes in circumstances, and ensuring appropriate and timely escalation where risks or urgent needs are identified.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as a point of contact for citizens and carers contacting the Occupational Therapy Team
  • Provide clear, accurate information and advice at initial contact and during follow-up enquiries
  • Support the prioritisation and management of the Occupational Therapy waiting list
  • Monitor changes in circumstances and raise concerns in line with service procedures
  • Respond to enquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Accurately record and retrieve information using IT systems and databases
  • Liaise appropriately with colleagues and partner services
About You

You will be confident communicating by telephone and able to manage challenging or sensitive conversations in a calm and professional manner. You will have experience using IT systems or databases to record and retrieve information and be able to work effectively as part of a team.
