The Team for Older People has a broad and diverse remit which provides a wide range of opportunities for professional development. The team accepts referrals for individuals living in the community, care home residents and those currently in hospital. Areas of social work you will encounter on our team include but is not limited to multi-disciplinary working with families, unpaid carers, third sector and health professionals;
assistive technology; supporting unpaid carers; reablement; direct payments; working with those living with Dementia diagnoses; hospital discharge and hospital avoidance; safeguarding; self-neglect;
Mental Capacity and Best Interest decision-making;
Continuing Healthcare assessments; intervention under the Mental Health Act; and Court of Protection. As part of the team you’ll enjoy a supportive work environment, including allocation of both a supervisor and a mentor, regular peer support group sessions, robust supervision and management support, attendance at regular team and locality meetings, and excellent daily peer support.
Information Regarding Grade 10 Experienced Social Worker Posts:
As this vacancy includes both Social Worker (Grade
9) and Experienced Social Worker (Grade 10) posts, I would like to outline Wrexham County Borough Council's pathways to the Experienced Social Worker role, as referenced in the Person Specification.
Applicants may progress via one of the following routes:
- Route 1:
The Social Worker holds two recognised specialist qualifications (e.g. BIA, AMHP). - Route 2:
The Social Worker holds one recognised specialist qualification and is committed to completing a second qualification within an agreed timeframe. - Route 3:
The Social Worker can demonstrate the required breadth and depth of significant practice experience (separate criteria apply). Progression via Route 3 requires a second interview with the Social Worker Progression Panel.
