Transport Planner-off

The Role
As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the movement of vehicles, trailers and drivers to meet customer requirements while maximising fleet utilisation and maintaining compliance with transport legislation.

Working closely with drivers, customers, depot teams and other Owens Group locations, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the transport operation.

Basic Salary: £34,000 per annum

This role operates on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (06:00 - 18:00). As part of the planning team structure, the successful candidate will be required to cover their opposite planner's annual leave entitlement, equating to 20 additional shifts per year.

When these 20 holiday cover shifts are worked, the annual salary increases to £38,670 per annum.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and allocate daily transport activities to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Monitor vehicle and driver performance throughout the day and respond to operational issues.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, customers and internal departments.
• Work with other depots to maximise efficiency and resource utilisation.
• Ensure compliance with Driver Hours, Working Time Directive and company procedures.
• Monitor vehicle and trailer availability, maintenance requirements and operational compliance.
• Support the achievement of service, utilisation and cost control targets.
• Maintain accurate records using transport management systems.

About You

• Previous experience in a Transport Planner or similar logistics role.
• Strong geographical knowledge and route planning skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience using transport management systems such as Mandata is desirable.
• CPC qualification desirable but not essential.
