Nurse Assistant – 6th Floor – Medical/Surgical – Full-Time – Days

Department: 6th Floor – Medical/Surgical

Location: Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, 2333 Biddle Ave, Wyandotte, MI 48192

Schedule: 36 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday rotation

Shift: Days 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (3x12 hour shifts)

Our 48‑bed Medical Surgical Unit cares for patients through many different phases of their healthcare journey. You’ll work alongside a skilled and compassionate team supporting patients with a wide range of needs — from post‑surgical recovery to treatment of acute infectious diseases requiring IV antibiotics to management of chronic conditions during flare‑ups. We also provide dignified, compassionate care for patients and families during end‑of‑life support.

• Perform routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens, including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chem sticks.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.
• Provide compassionate, hands‑on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)), Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing, Foreign‑trained RN who has relocated to the U.S. and does not hold a Michigan RN license, Medical Assistant program (with or without experience), or at least one year of experience in a similar role.
• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred.

• Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.

• Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment.
• Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.
• Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
