Nurse Assistant - 3rd Floor PCU - Full-Time - Midnights

Department: 3rd Floor – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, 2333 Biddle Ave, Wyandotte, MI 48192

Schedule: 36 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday rotation

Shift: Days 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3x12 hours shifts)

As a Nurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assist with essential patient care tasks and actively contribute to a positive patient experience.

Our 34-bed Progressive Care Unit specializes in telemetry and caring for acutely ill adult patients with a wide range of diagnoses. Whether helping manage chronic illnesses or supporting recovery from acute conditions, our team is dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and compassionate care to the Downriver community.

• Perform routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chem sticks.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.
• Provide compassionate, hands‑on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.

• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary:
  Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)).
• Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing.
• Foreign‑trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license.
• Medical Assistant program (with or without experience).
• At least one (1) year of experience in a Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role.
• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred.

• Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.

• Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment.
• Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.
• Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
