Shift: Day Shift 7:00 am – 7:30 pm (2x12 hour shifts)

As a Nurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assist with essential patient care tasks and actively contribute to a positive patient experience.
About Our UnitOur 34-bed Progressive Care Unit specializes in telemetry and caring for acutely ill adult patients with a wide range of diagnoses. Whether helping manage chronic illnesses or supporting recovery from acute conditions, our team is dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and compassionate care to the Downriver community.
What You’ll DoYour day-to-day impact includes:
- Performing routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chem sticks.
- Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.
- Providing compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
Education/Experience
Required:
To qualify, you’ll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary:
Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)). - Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing.
- Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license
- Medical Assistant program (with or without experience).
- At least one (1) year of experience in a Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role.
- Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred
- Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment.
- Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.
- Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
