About Heartstrings Pet Hospice & In-Home Euthanasia & Aftercare

Heartstrings is a privately owned, rapidly growing in‑home euthanasia and end‑of‑life care practice founded on the core values of Compassion, Dignity, and Respect. Our focus is on people—our families, our patients, and our medical team. We are hiring both Part‑Time and Full‑Time Associate Veterinarians in Detroit, Tory, Wyandotte, Dearborn, Ferndale, Southfield, Ann Arbor, and surrounding areas. The role offers flexibility, autonomy, emotional fulfillment, and a low‑stress medical environment.

$85,000.00/yr – $/yr

Position Overview

As an Associate Veterinarian, you will provide compassionate, gentle in‑home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care. You will work independently in the field with full support from a collaborative medical leadership team, dedicated Veterinary Care Specialists (VCS), and strong operational infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in‑home euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care in a compassionate, Fear Free‑aligned manner.
  • Support families through the end‑of‑life process with empathy, patience, and professionalism.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
  • Collaborate with Heartstrings’ medical leadership and support teams.
  • Participate in ongoing training, education, and clinical development.

Requirements
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD, or BVMS) from an accredited veterinary school.
  • Active (or ability to obtain) veterinary license in the state of practice.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Availability to work some weekends as part of a rotating schedule.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Candidates will be subject to a background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check post‑hire and prior to the associated start date.
