Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an apprentice to join the accounts team successful candidate will be trained on different accounting software whilst working towards their AAT qualification. The role includes working with the team to grow the accounts aspect of the business, preparation of year end accounts and more.
Wage£15,000 a year. The annual wage will differ between £15,500 - £17,000 depending on experience.

What you’ll do at workOur accounts team provides clients with modern accounting and tax services, utilising the latest cloud technology. The team plays a critical role in the completion of client compliance work such as accounts preparation, tax calculations and management reporting.
- Preparation of year end accounts and associated tax calculations.
- Working alongside client managers to assist with their ledgers.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts (bank, purchase ledger, sales ledger, PAYE, wages, VAT etc.).
- Prepare reports, letters and other documents.
- Working towards a multitude of deadlines on behalf of yourself and the wider team.
- Working with the team to grow the accounts aspect of the business.

Training courseAssistant accountant (level
3).
Course contents cover investigation and response to financial information queries, recording and analysing financial data, applying double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards, reconciling financial data, communicating financial information, utilising digital skills and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
- Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
- Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
- Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards.
- Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
- Reconcile financial data, such as preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
- Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Communicate financial information in a way that non‑finance stakeholders can interpret.
- Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
- Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements.
- Full support with study costs whilst completing the Level 3 AAT Accounts Assistant apprenticeship.
- Following the initial completion of the apprenticeship, you will receive continued support to complete the AAT qualification.
- Successful candidate will attend weekday courses once a week at their nearest First Intuition centre to study towards their AAT Level 3 qualification and receive mentoring towards the Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship knowledge, skills and behaviours.
GCSE in five subjects including English and Maths (Grade 9‑4, A*‑C).

Gascoynes is looking for a school/college leaver to start an apprenticeship in August 2026. The working week is 37.5 hours with overtime expected in busier periods. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that is part of the apprenticeship. The candidate will need to travel to their nearest First Intuition centre for AAT courses. The position is for a Level 3 apprenticeship but a Level 2 apprenticeship will be considered if more suitable.
