Branding Iron Assistant Editor‑in‑Chief Job PurposeProvide editing, proofing, and page design supervision of newspaper copy before publication.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Edit all copy prepared for composition.
- Design and paginate pages for newspaper.
- Proof all copy after composition.
- Supervise and direct copy editors in the completion of the first three duties.
- Meet daily with editor for consultation and assignment.
- Maintain regular office hours of not less than 15 hours per week.
- Full‑time student.
- Minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Newspaper experience, including writing news stories.
- Must be available to start work Aug. 18, 2025.
- Must be available for publication deadlines on Sundays and Wednesday nights.
- Must be available Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for training.
- Some supervisory experience.
- Basic knowledge of what goes into a good newspaper story, as well as other newspaper editorial content.
- Some prior newspaper experience.
- Knowledge of AP style or willingness to learn.
