Responsibilities/Expectations

  • Supervises the development and implementation of pipeline operations, equipment maintenance and safety, including technical standards and governmental requirements.
  • Serves as a subject matter specialist, providing technical or operational guidance to the team, including troubleshooting problems using existing precedents and procedures.
  • Leads team projects or assignments of major scope or complexity that impact profitability.
  • Follows company policies and appropriate operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Coordinates protection of community, personnel, environment and assets.
  • Coordinates awareness of site/location/equipment specific permits and compliance.
  • Completes assigned reports, logs and maintains accurate records.
  • Provides mentorship to team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Years of Experience

  • Required: High School Diploma/GED and minimum eight (8) years of demonstrated ability as an operations technician in the oil and gas industry.
  • Preferred: Associate’s or 2‑year technical degree and minimum eight (8) progressive operations technician experience within a natural gas processing or compression facility.

Physical and Environment Work Requirements

  • Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises and in enclosed spaces.
  • Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team‑lift loads of more than 50 lbs as needed.
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time.
  • Work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Use hand tools.

Shift/Work Hours/Travel Requirements

  • Available to work after hours, on‑call rotations, nights, weekend shifts, and holidays as needed.
  • May be required to work overtime, 10‑12 hour shifts, and travel between Williams locations with occasional overnight stays.

Other Requirements

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Demonstrates aptitude and ability to embrace technology and applications to drive operational efficiency and streamline processes.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with safety as the utmost priority.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and PC skills; advanced knowledge of Process Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers.

  • Limited seniority position – highest career level in the progression family.
  • Serves as subject matter expert providing technical or operational guidance.
  • Leads teams in development and implementation of operational and/or technical standards and specifications.
  • Identifies training needs and provides evaluation feedback on the team.
  • Capable of regularly making and/or leading decision‑making that has high‑level impact on economics and profitability.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of facilities and for the protection of community, personnel, environment and assets.
  • Recognized as an effective leader who demonstrates and encourages professional conduct and business ethics.
  • Leads compliance activities, including training, scheduling and reporting.
  • Assumes responsibility for the interpretation of business aspects and coordinates with management to ensure overall success.
