Brunel is recruiting I&C Engineers to work in La Barge, WY for initially 1 year contract with our major oil and gas client.

Our Client is seeking a highly experienced DCS / Application Engineering Specialist to work as a Client Representative supporting process control operations.
This role is focused on ABB 800xA Distributed Control Systems (DCS) – the core automation platform and “brains of the plant.”
The successful candidate will represent our Client in ensuring system reliability, optimization, and safe operations, while coordinating with contractors and plant personnel.
Responsibilities- Act as a Client Representative, providing oversight and expertise for the ABB 800xA DCS platform and associated Symphony communications infrastructure.
- Ensure contractor work aligns with Client standards, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Configure, maintain, and optimize control strategies, graphics, alarms, and logic to support safe and efficient plant operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve DCS, network, and application-level issues, coordinating with on-site teams.
- Oversee integration of field instrumentation, controllers, and process applications into the DCS.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and process engineering teams to ensure control systems reliability and availability.
- Provide technical review of system upgrades, patches, and cybersecurity compliance strategies.
- Mentor and guide less experienced engineers and technicians, ensuring knowledge transfer to Client teams.
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience with Distributed Control Systems in oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, or power plant environments.
- Proven hands‑on expertise with ABB 800xA DCS platform.
- Strong understanding of control system networks, redundancy, and Symphony communications architecture.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in live plant operating environments.
- Ability to represent the Client professionally and effectively in contractor and team interactions.
- Experience with process control applications, advanced process control (APC), or optimization.
- Background in instrumentation & controls (I&C) engineering.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, or related discipline) – not required with equivalent experience.
