We are seeking a Construction Automation Engineer to support automation efforts for complex projects at the Kemmerer, WY site. This is a short‑term assignment that will relocate to the project site after 12 months.

Project Overview

Bechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on Terra Power’s Natrium team. The Natrium project is a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) initiative to design and build an advanced sodium fast reactor, a 345 MWe fast reactor with integrated molten‑salt energy storage. The project will produce over 500 MWe of power and partners with GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, Energy Northwest, Pacifi Corp, Duke Energy, and national laboratories.

Job Summary

The Construction Automation Specialist reports to the Lead Construction Automation Specialist. The role involves database management, programming skills, and 3‑D tools to establish and administer the portfolio of construction automation applications on the jobsite.

Major Responsibilities
  • Provide automation support to project teams, including setup, training, application and process support, software quality assurance and control, reporting, database administration, and close‑out of all construction automation software.
  • Arrange, prepare, and conduct meetings, workshops, and presentations as required.
  • Assist with executing the project automation plan.
  • Evaluate and coordinate the implementation of new automation modules and tools.
  • Test and support data integration of new releases of production software/programs.
  • Customize applications as required by the customer.
  • Prepare user guides and training material and deliver training.
  • Develop performance curves, metrics, trackers, and user feedback to show trends and guide improvements.
  • Apply knowledge of database management, programming skills, and 3‑D tools to support construction planning, work packaging, progress reporting, material management, turnover/completions, workforce management, and timekeeping.
  • Coordinate construction requirements with the project IT lead/manager to ensure incorporation in the automation plan.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Physically capable of conducting field inspections and participating in project walk‑downs, including extensive walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, uneven surfaces, and confined spaces.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Application development and maintenance; digital process implementation.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel and Access.
  • Experience with other database platforms is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes acquired through specialized instruction or practical experience.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of TEAMWorks and associated applications.
  • Experience with other BSAPs.
  • Understanding of Bechtel standards and nuclear construction work processes and procedures.
Salary Range

$90,990 – $138,760 annually (determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications).
