RN Unit Manager

Harbor Post Acute Center isseeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager to join our leadership team in a beautiful sub-acute nursing facility located in Wyoming, MI
. This position plays a vital role in supporting clinical excellence, infection prevention, and team development.

The RN Unit Manager oversees daily clinical operations on the unit, ensures high-quality resident care, and provides leadership, support, and guidance to the nursing team. This role partners closely with the Director of Nursing, Infection Preventionist, and interdisciplinary team to ensure compliance, quality, and a positive work environment.

• Oversee daily operations of the assigned nursing unit and ensure delivery of high-quality resident care.
• Support and mentor nursing staff, fostering teamwork, communication, and accountability.
• Conduct rounds, monitor resident conditions, and ensure timely follow-up on clinical concerns.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support care planning, care coordination, and resident outcomes.

• Apply infection control knowledge and best practices within the unit & throughout the facility.
• Monitor infection trends, isolation needs, and compliance with PPE and hygiene protocols.
• Support facility infection prevention initiatives through education, rounding, and audits.
• Partner with the Director of Nursing to ensure regulatory readiness and quality improvement efforts.

• Promote an environment where staff feel supported, appreciated, and equipped for success.
• Assist with onboarding, training, and ongoing coaching of staff.
• Encourage professional growth and foster a positive, collaborative culture.

• Ensure unit compliance with state, federal, and facility policies.
• Monitor documentation, care plans, and clinical follow-ups for accuracy and completeness.
• Participate in audits, care conferences, quality improvement activities, and survey preparedness.

• Serve as a reliable resource for staff, residents, and families.
• Communicate changes in condition, concerns, and updates to leadership and providers.
• Coordinate with scheduling to support adequate staffing and coverage needs.

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan (required).
• Experience in skilled nursing, sub-acute or long-term care strongly preferred.
• Previous leadership, charge nurse, or unit management experience required.
• Infection control training or experience (IP-certified or working toward certification is a plus).
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
