Polaris Industries, Inc. seeks Vehicle Control Systems Engineer - Motorcycles in Wyoming, MN.
Assist in the development and integration of electronic controllers and components for systems such as engine control modules, gateways, brake controllers, infotainment/connected, vehicle control modules and wireless modules, ensuring that all electrical components work together seamlessly to deliver optimal performance, reliability, and safety. Translate business tasks and engineering attributes into vehicle‑level system requirements and documentation in both natural language and Simulink model‑based (including Simulation) environments that can be distributed across external and internal development teams for implementation.
Perform detailed studies and trade‑off analysis of vehicle software control systems with an emphasis on safety, reliability, and cost. Focus on platform‑based strategy designs that meet both the immediate needs of the business unit as well as the perceived or real future needs of Polaris. Participate in and/or lead design reviews and ensure the control system design meets electrical system requirements.
Interface with and guides cross‑functional teams such as Electrical, Mechanical, Powertrain, Service, Manufacturing, Software, Purchasing and external suppliers as needed ensuring overall technical execution is meeting program expectations.
Ensure system design practices incorporate process improvements to align with Functional Safety goals/standards. This may include leading/participating in Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARA), Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), etc. Support internal test team to develop, document, and execute system and vehicle‑level validation plans/procedures and resolution of issues found. Perform root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting of vehicle controls systems when issues arise.
Telecommuting permitted. 10% domestic travel is required throughout the U.S.
Position QualificationsRequires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software and Controls Engineering, or related field plus 2 years of experience. Required experience must include any amount of experience with all of the following:
- Design or implementation of controls related to vehicle controls, diagnostics, or communication.
- Vehicle architectures.
- Vehicle communication networks including Classic CAN with 1939 or UDS protocol.
- Formal requirement generation and systems modeling in Matlab or Simulink.
- Electrical or software test and analysis equipment.
$78,000 - $103,000 per year. 401(k), Health, Vision, Dental, and PTO benefits. Must also have authority to work permanently in the U.S.
