DescriptionPosition Summary:
The ARFF Assembler is responsible for the installation of doors, hose beds, body panels, and other final parts, like roll doors and steps, to the fire apparatus as called for in the specifications. This position will drill, manipulate, and perform light fabrication to parts and necessary truck components to complete the custom installation. The ARFF Assembler is responsible for putting together modules and other body parts according to the specification book.
They will install wire harnesses for preparation of equipment to be installed. The ARFF Assembler will run wire harnesses according to schematics, and crimp and connect wires and electrical components together.
- Installs all interior and exterior components of the cabs, including routing and installing A/C lines and vents.
- Wires the air pumps, dash components, and fuse box to complete the electrical components within the cab.
- Assembles body modules and components according to the specifications book.
- Responsible for the installation of doors, hose beds, compartment internals, and body panels.
- Drills and taps holes and performs light fabrication to complete projects as needed.
- Reads and understands specs and blueprints to build fire apparatus.
- Runs wire harnesses according to schematics; crimps and connects wires and electrical components together.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
Hand tools, power tools, grinders, cut off wheels, and tape measure.
Qualifications Knowledge, Education, and Experience- High school diploma/GED.
- Strong mechanical and technical ability required.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books.
- Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.
- Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.
- Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
- Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
- Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
- Driving license.
- Own vehicle.
- Hours of work – Ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally.
- Overtime as needed to meet the needs of the department.
- Travel – Local.
- Travel – Overnight.
- Travel – Prolonged periods.
