Position SummaryThe Parts Welder will position, fabricate, and assemble structural metal/aluminum products. They will construct dividers, coffin lids, and wheel well inserts. The Parts Welder will set up and operate fabricating machines, and they will position, align, fit, and weld together parts - MIG & TIG Welding.
Hours: M-TH 4:15pm-2:15am*
Essential Functions- Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as shears, ironworker, punches, saws, and drill presses.
- Performs MIG and TIG welding operations on aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel.
- Designs and constructs templates and fixtures.
- Hammers, chips, and grinds workpiece to cut, bend, and straighten metal.
- Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications.
- Follows all workplace rules and safety guidelines and demonstrates safe work practices.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
Hand tools, power tools, grinders, cut off wheels, welders, shear, and tape measure.
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s):
- Knowledge, Education, And/or Experience
- High school diploma/GED.
- Previous welding experience required.
- Strong mechanical and technical ability required.
- Skills
- Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books.
- Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions.
- Math
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Computer
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Solid Works, and Adobe/PDFs.
- Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.
- Abilities
- Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.
- Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
- Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
- Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
Driving license - Own Vehicle
Hours of work - Ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally
Overtime required as needed to meet the needs of the department.
Travel - Local, Overnight, Prolonged Periods
Able to pass a weld test during the interview process.
