This role focuses on developing and maintaining scalable and robust automated test libraries for the Ride Command in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) display, supporting both sub-system validation and QA teams. The engineer will also maintain and enhance HIL test equipment to ensure robust and efficient validation workflows.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering innovative and intuitive test solutions that directly impact software quality and customer experience.

This role may be based out of Wyoming, MN or Plymouth, MN, with regular travel required between both locations.

  • Provide technical support documentation for ecu.test users and test libraries.
  • Align library development with long-term validation strategies and stakeholder priorities.
  • Communicate development progress, risks, and timelines effectively.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot HIL test equipment (electrical, assembly, harness design, etc.).
  • Develop real-time simulations – integration of basic plant models and rest bus simulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in test coverage, reliability, and performance.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and deliverables.
Required Skills/Experience
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in an HMI or embedded software QA/validation role.
  • 1+ years of experience using test automation frameworks (tracetronic ecu.test preferred).
  • 1+ years of professional Python programming experience.
  • 1+ years of experience using Git in a team environment. Familiarity with XIL methodologies (HIL, SIL, MIL) and associated tools (e.g., dSPACE, NI, Vector, tracetronic).
  • Experience with CAN communication protocols, CAN/J1939/UDS preferred. Understanding of vehicle embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with automotive software and test standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ASAM XIL API, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Desired Skills/Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in HMI test automation.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth, AM/FM, and/or multimedia (audio and video) testing.
  • Experience with the following tools:
    • tracetronic ecu.test – test automation tool
    • Vector VT/CANoe/CANalyzer – rest bus and IO simulation
  • Basic understanding of Dev Ops practices (e.g., CI/CD continuous test).
  • Experience working with Agile teams.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink.
