Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provides nursing care according to physician's instructions and in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards, and administrative policies.
- Identifies residents' care requirements by establishing personal rapport with residents and other persons in a position to understand care requirements.
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to residents, friends, and families.
- Promotes resident independence by establishing care goals; teaching patients, friends, and families to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions.
- Resolves resident problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
- Protects residents and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Documents resident care services by charting in resident records.
- Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains resident confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Recognizes and interprets resident's conditions based on signs and symptoms, lab work, medication regimen, and reports to appropriate person; has knowledge of the resident's conditions at all times.
- Promotes a team relationship with CNAs by recognizing their efforts, assisting with resident care as needed, and promptly and appropriately responding to reported resident concerns. Promotes and encourages autonomy.
- Cooperates with other departments to facilitate care of the resident and to maintain inter-departmental goodwill.
- Providers support for the decisions made by LPN, promotes and encourages growth in the LPN role. Recognizes that LPNs act as immediate supervisors.
- All other duties as assigned by the Long-Term Care Director of Nursing.
This position will supervise LPNs and CNAs on the unit.
Qualifications- Current, unencumbered LPN/LVN or Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Wyoming (or compact state eligibility).
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Wyoming Knowledge.
