The Wyoming Supreme Court seeks an Accounts Payable Clerk (AP Clerk) under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer. The AP Clerk processes fiscal transactions for the Wyoming Judicial Branch, including 29 agencies across more than 50 locations. The role handles all expenditure and revenue activities, managing payables and receivables for the Branch.
Essential Functions- Communicate fiscal information and accounting processes to employees and courts.
- Resolve problems and questions presented by coworkers and courts.
- Ensure work complies with federal and state laws.
- Process payments to vendors, using correct departmental fund accounting and object codes.
- Maintain organized workflow for accounts payable and receivable documents.
- Enter expenditure modifications and warrant cancellations as needed.
- Prepare and submit CR documents for various courts and agencies.
- Maintain vendor records and respond to inquiries; ensure vendors active in WOLFS with accurate records.
- Determine dollar amounts billed to each court when needed.
- Sort and distribute incoming mail; review invoices, reconcile and correct discrepancies before payment.
- Scan documents for record retention purposes.
- Support fixed asset inventory, track assets, complete inventory, manage disposal of assets.
- Monitor expenditures, budget balances, and recommend transfers between object codes; encumber funds and set up budgets in WOLFS.
- Research and analyze fiscal information and carry out special studies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in business, accounting, or closely related field.
- Two to four years of bookkeeping, accounting, budgeting experience.
- Preference for WOLFS experience.
- Prorate costs across separate budgets and time periods.
- Communicate courteously and effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Follow spoken and written instructions.
- Maintain confidential records.
- Basic bookkeeping practices.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Use of accounting and human resource software.
- Knowledge of WOLFS, state fiscal rules, auditor policies, basic accounting, budgets, cost controls, office practices, clerical/accounting procedures, and document management principles.
- Mobility in a typical office setting: use office equipment, sit at desk, stand or walk occasionally, read printed materials, communicate in person or over phone.
- Lift up to 30 pounds at times.

- FLSA:
