JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE:
Shoshone Language Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicant must be knowledgeable concerning the Shoshone Language and Culture.
The applicant must be able to pass the certification examination administered by the Shoshone Language and Culture Commission.
Applicant must be certified by the PTSB.
JOB GOAL:
To assist in the design, implementation and evaluation of bilingual curricula at Wyoming Indian Schools.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in the design, implementation and evaluation of Shoshone Language/Culture curricula; teach Shoshone Language and Culture courses to students.
Designs instruction units, lesson plans and educational material for Shoshone Language/Culture.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials.
Provides individualized, small group, and differentiated instruction in order to meet the needs of each pupil.
Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
Establishes and maintains acceptable standards of pupil behavior by establishing, and clearly communicating, parameters for student classroom behavior and managing disruptive behavior.
Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils’ progress and interpret the school program.
Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
Participates in the IEP process as appropriate and as required by law.
Maintains professional competence through in-service, workshops, and other professional development activities.
Collaborates with the appropriate administrator on the evaluation process in conformance with district evaluation guidelines.
Supervises pupils during both in out of the classroom during the assigned working day.
Administers appropriate tests and/or assessments.
Participates in curriculum development committees as required.
Participates in faculty meetings, committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
Adheres to all applicable laws, policies, and regulations governing the operation of Fremont County School District #14.
Other duties which may, from time to time, be assigned by the Building Principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Length of contract to be determined by Board of Trustees.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on teacher evaluation.
