Recruitment Consultant for Zurich North America
Zurich is looking for a Senior Risk Engineering Consultant or Risk Engineering Specialist with extensive experience in power‑plant operations to join the Global Energy – Power Generation team. This work‑from‑home role is ideally located in the Western U.S. (other U.S. locations are considered) with up to 50% travel to service accounts across the country.
This position supports Power Generation Risk Engineering work‑load associated with underwriting, assisting with increased field assignments, and completing field and desktop assessments of power generation plants and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a record of developing risk‑improvement actions to help clients mitigate risks.
Final candidates will be subject to a Motor Vehicle record background check; this role may include a company car, depending on location and mileage expectations.
Responsibilities- Advanced risk assessment of plant machinery, fire protection equipment, and associated business interruption within the power generation industry.
- Providing consultative services to customers by identifying exposures with significant loss potential, investigating major losses, and managing programs.
- Providing training for Risk Engineering staff, Underwriting staff, customers, and service teams; mentoring, marketing, and loss investigations.
- Managing account risk portfolios and providing engineering to meet underwriting requirements.
- Marketing Zurich products in conjunction with underwriting professionals and agents across business segments.
- Developing and implementing customer‑service strategies that reduce loss and improve operations.
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in power‑generation risk engineering, or
- High school diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of experience, or
- Zurich Certified Apprentice, an associate degree, and 6+ years of experience, plus teamwork experience.
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in risk engineering, or
- High school diploma or equivalent and 10+ years of experience, or
- Zurich Certified Apprentice, an associate degree, and 8+ years of experience, plus knowledge of exposures, controls, and best‑practice risk improvement.
- 10+ years of experience in risk engineering or power generation plant operations, including machinery operation, maintenance, or assessment.
- Military experience in propulsion plants and power‑generation equipment.
- Related energy industry experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Advanced knowledge of exposure controls and industry segment practices.
- Certification in a specialty area such as risk engineering or power‑generation machinery breakdown assessments.
Compensation for roles is influenced by factors such as office location, skill set, and level of experience. The salary range for this position is $98,300.00 – $. The Senior Risk Engineering Consultant range is $98,300.00 – $ (15% short‑term incentive), and the Risk Engineering Specialist range is $ – $ (20% short‑term incentive).
