Water/Wastewater Systems Manager (Project Management) SUMMARY

Responsible for the operation of the wastewater treatment facility and all water utilities, including the supervision and training of the Water/Wastewater Apprentice or Operator. Coordinates operation of equipment involved in wastewater treatment and laboratory analysis. Conducts water sample collections, meter testing and installation, and utility locates. A key part of every employee's job is to serve as a Targhee ambassador, engaging the guest at every opportunity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • As it relates to the treatment of wastewater and the plant operation:
    • Full understanding of the structures (valves), air blowers, and associated equipment.
    • Maintains responsibility for all aspects of safety as it relates to the handling, processing and testing of wastewater and culinary water supply.
    • Prepares an annual maintenance schedule which follows the guidelines referred to in the O&M Manual for review by Director of Base Area Operations.
    • Responsible for landfill disposal of bio‑solids.
    • Maintains records on all maintenance performed as outlined in the yearly maintenance schedule.
    • Ensures that all commercial grease traps are maintained on a regular basis.
    • Pumping and disposal of all on‑mountain portable toilets.
  • As it relates to monitoring, lab analysis and procedures:
    • Engages and educates the local community about the plant when necessary.
    • Prepares all required reports associated with the Water/Wastewater Treatment Facilities.
  • As it relates to the sewage collection system:
    • Understands Permit Required Confined Space entry and safety systems.
    • Daily monitoring of the current lift station pumps located at the Sprung and performs all required maintenance to keep the system running at optimum performance.
  • As it relates to water meters:
    • Maintains an appropriate inventory of meters.
    • Maintains a familiarization with the location and sizes of the various meters.
    • Sizes, repairs and tests meters.
  • As it relates to the collection of water samples:
    • Understands the critical nature of the collection of monthly, quarterly, yearly and tri‑annually water samples and complies with the requirements outlined for sampling while taking samples.
  • As it relates to the raw water system:
    • Full knowledge of the system.
    • Repairs service lines.
    • Understands and remains current of the SCADA system.
    • Understands and completes assigned repairs on the wells, distribution and storage systems.
  • Resort Propane:
    Responsible for monthly resort propane reads, monitoring propane levels on all tanks and coordinating refilling of all on‑mountain and base area propane tanks.
  • Ability to operate OHVs and/or a snow machine due to the remote location of the treatment plant depending on the time of year, and the ability to operate heavy equipment to facilitate loading and unloading of essential gear/equipment and biosolids for disposal.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Director of Base Area Operations.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY
    • Protect the safety of self, workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.
    • Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
    • Report safety‑related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
    • Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort's Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department‑specific procedures or manuals.
    • Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
    • Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position oversees Wastewater/Water Operator or Apprentice.

    WORK SCHEDULE

    Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Minimum three (3) years of experience operating a Level 3 Wastewater Plant. Must meet licensure requirement of 24 Continuing Education Units (CEU's) per license every three‑year renewal period.
