Job DescriptionThe Certified Medical Technologist performs and analyzes a wide range of laboratory tests to aid in diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. This role is responsible for specimen collection and processing, conducting complex diagnostic assays, verifying result accuracy, and maintaining efficient, compliant lab operations.
Responsibilities- Collect, prepare, and label patient samples and cultures per established protocols.
- Perform clinical lab testing across hematology, urinalysis, microbiology, chemistry, and related disciplines.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain instruments (e.g., microscopes, analyzers, cell counters) to ensure reliable performance.
- Execute quality control procedures and validate the accuracy and precision of test results.
- Record, interpret, and report results promptly, noting abnormal findings and critical values.
- Adhere to laboratory safety, infection control, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and equipment malfunctions; elevate when needed.
- Monitor supplies and reagents; maintain inventory to support uninterrupted testing.
- Participate in method evaluations and implementation of new procedures.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to provide timely, precise diagnostic information.
- Assist in onboarding and training of laboratory staff as directed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field preferred. - Certification: MLT/MT or CLS required, or eligibility within two years of hire.
- Experience:
Minimum one year in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of lab procedures, instrumentation, and diagnostic methodologies.
- Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and analytical problem-solving.
- Effective written and verbal communication; collaborative team orientation.
- Solid understanding of infection control and laboratory safety practices.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Salary: $50,000.00 To $85,000.00 Annually
