We operate and maintain eleven retail outlets throughout the park. We don’t sell souvenirs, we sell memories!
Job SummaryAs an Assistant Retail Manager, you will oversee retail operations, ensure excellent guest service, and maintain a clean and organized sales floor. Key responsibilities include training staff on sales techniques, managing inventory and displays, and assisting with scheduling and personnel development. Additionally, you will handle administrative tasks such as maintaining records, processing deliveries, and ensuring compliance with company policies and environmental standards.

Mid April 2026 to Mid October 2026 - Pay: $1,536.00 to $1,556.00/bi-weekly (amount of pay depends on the location)
- Schedule:
Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

- Oversee retail operations in cooperation with the Gift Shop Manager at assigned locations
- Provide excellent guest service by adhering to Xanterra’s hospitality standards
- Ensure adherence to cash handling policies and train staff on effective sales techniques, including suggestive selling
- Maintain a clean and organized sales floor, including cleaning tasks and ensuring displays are stocked and neat
- Provide accurate information to guests and discuss concerns with appropriate management or support staff
- Assist in maintaining accurate shop records, including reports, transfers, payroll, and inventory control
- Assist the Gift Shop Manager with scheduling, supervising, and developing gift shop personnel
- Comply with Xanterra’s policies, including environmental management systems, and ensure a safe work environment
- Knowledge of MI9 point of sales system and ability to troubleshoot common problems
- Able to perform all duties of a Sales Associate. Be accurate with cash handling, daily reporting procedures and inventory control
- Able to coach employees to maintain high and consistent standards in the gift shop Understanding of a retail operation in a high traffic seasonal environment
- Must be able to foster cooperation among a diverse workforce. Work well with all staff members
- Should have a basic knowledge and understanding of souvenirs, gifts, jewelry and other products sold within Yellowstone National Park
- Able to work with a minimum of supervision. Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
- Demonstrate excellent sales approach and skills
- Demonstrate awareness of general gift shop security and theft prevention
- Able to stand/walk for a minimum eight‑hour shift
- Frequently lift and carry cartons weighing up to 50 lbs
- Carry boxes/product up and down stairs at most locations several times a day
- Must be able to bend down or kneel to stock product frequently during a shift
- Able to work at high elevations (6,000 to 8,000 feet above sea level)
