Wyoming Conservation Corps - Crew Member, Ameri Corps
JOB PURPOSE:
Participate and engage in conservation projects across the state of Wyoming.
Term of Service: May-August
Living Stipend: $4,800.00
Segal Education Award: $1,956.35
Ameri Corps WCC Crew Members will work in teams of six members with two crew leaders. Members will work cooperatively with and take direction from crew leaders and the Program Staff. Crew members will complete six, ten‑day conservation projects around the state of Wyoming, living and working outdoors; crew members will also complete one week of orientation before the start of the first project.
Responsibilities include camping, cooking, work‑related task completion, participating in environmental education, and group learning programs and various camp chores. Projects are located throughout the state with agencies such as state and federal land management. Projects include trail maintenance and construction, habitat restoration, development reclamation, construction, scientific survey, and various agricultural projects. Crew members will be required to fulfill a total hourly commitment over the term of service.
Crew members will be enrolled in a one upper‑division credit WCC class through the University of Wyoming. Completion of this course along with fulfillment of hourly commitments through training, projects, and some travel is required to receive the Ameri Corps Education Award. Crew members will complete trainings and orientations for the WCC program and its Ameri Corps affiliation, including a required 16‑hour Wilderness First Aid course at no cost.
This is a drug and alcohol free position with zero tolerance. Ameri Corps members will be supervised by WCC staff.
