Title: Veterinary Assistant

Description: Pinedale Animal Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant. A Veterinary Assistant is responsible for assisting the doctor in treating patients. They perform the initial evaluation of the pet’s health and obtain health history from clients. They provide superior patient care with excellent customer service. They are responsible for hospital cleanliness and keeping supplies fully stocked.

Qualifications:

  • Possesses a high attention to detail
  • Have compassion for working with animals
  • Have the ability to stay calm and collected during times of high stress and medical crisis
  • Is a good communicator and easily approachable
  • Excels in a team-oriented environment
  • Must be able to lift animals up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and be able to bend or crouch for restraint of patients

    • Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform medical history and initial evaluation of animal’s health
  • Complete lab work
  • Take radiographs and understand radiology safety
  • Perform intravenous catheter placement
  • Complete medical records and know veterinary terminology
  • Administer injections under the supervision of a veterinarian
  • Monitor anesthesia and prepare patients for surgery
  • Perform dental cleanings
  • Fill prescriptions for patients
  • Keep supplies and medications fully stocked
  • Clean equipment and treatment rooms after procedures
