A plant Mechanic is a Journeyman Mechanic responsible for installing and maintaining structural or mechanical equipment at the plant, including fired and unfired pressure vessels, turbines, pumps, pulverizers and piping systems. Daily interfacing with basic thermodynamics, hydraulics and blueprint reading. Tasks may include but are not limited to connecting compression fittings, removal and replacement of thermocouple assemblies and minor operation of equipment.

• High School diploma, GED, or proof of equivalent.
• Minimum one year Mechanic experience (preferred in a power or chemical plant) OR completion of a college‑level associate degree in a related field of study; OR completion of an apprenticeship or other equivalent training that resulted in certification at the Journeyman level.
• Must be able to perform critical alignments on all rotating equipment using roto‑align equipment, including pumps, fans and gearboxes.
• Must be able to weld low pressure, carbon steel pipe up to 6" in diameter.
• Must be able to install bearings, mechanical seals, packing, and rebuild pumps, valves, and gearboxes.
• Must understand and utilize mathematical calculations for rigging purposes when lifting equipment.
• Must understand coal handling equipment and maintain coal belts and associated equipment.
• Must be able to perform machine shop work using a lathe, drill press, boring bar, etc.
• Must pass a Mechanic exam.
• Must pass a pre‑employment physical exam.
• Must be able to work in power plant conditions and meet the physical demands noted below.
• Must have a positive team attitude when working with other team members.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
• Follows industry or specific guidelines, particularly as they relate to safety, health and environmental practices.

• Experience as a Journeyman Plant Mechanic.
• Certified Welder.
