Old Baldy Club offers Members and their guests a unique western experience in a refined, peaceful setting. Located in Wyoming's cowboy country, Old Baldy began as a retreat where friends could gather to test their skills on the golf course and along the trout stream. Over sixty years later, the club stays true to its roots while catering to today's diverse interests.
It's more than just a golf and fly‑fishing club—it’s a place where outdoor adventure meets fine dining and top‑notch accommodations.
Set just outside the small mountain town of Saratoga, Old Baldy Club is nestled in a quiet valley surrounded by snow‑capped peaks. Saratoga, with a population of around 1,700, is a classic cowboy town, small in size but rich in character. While it's a tight‑knit community, the club offers a level of sophistication that surprises many. Our professional staff is dedicated to delivering a first‑class experience with a personal touch, ensuring every visit is something special.
OBC'sHistory
Founded in 1964 by George
B. Storer, then President of Storer Broadcasting, Old Baldy Club was born from George's love for the Platte Valley, where he and his family enjoyed riding, fishing, and golf. Inspired by Indian Creek Club in Florida, George envisioned a retreat with a mountain, river, and meadow backdrop instead of the ocean. He designed the club with a Clubhouse, Lodge, Cottages, Tackle Shop, Golf Shop, and Salon, offering guests a perfect blend of recreation and relaxation.
Members could also build homes, a tradition that continues as new lots become available.
The 18‑hole championship golf course, designed by Henry Hughes, features tight fairways and elevated greens, making it a challenging yet rewarding high‑elevation course. Planted where sagebrush once stood, the now 30‑50‑foot trees share the landscape with roaming antelope, a sight that has delighted golfers from the start.
Over the years, the club has upheld traditions like weekly riverside cookouts, tournaments, and specialty dinners while embracing new ones, such as twilight golf, fishing tournaments, and wine dinners. Each decade brings fresh faces, new traditions, and continued growth, with new homes, lots, tennis courts, and a fitness center enhancing the club's offerings.
