As an Assistant Stylist, you will engage guests, consult on their hair care needs, and recommend products and services. This temporary position prepares talent for a full stylist role, focusing on performance, people, and process.

• Deliver exceptional guest service and contribute to meeting or exceeding store sales, loyalty, and shrink goals.
• Support mentor Stylist in meeting sales and productivity goals through add‑on recommendations, shampoo and treatment processes, blowouts, color applications, foil assistance, sanitation, pre‑booking, and retail recommendations.
• After month three, perform hair services—including design, cuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing where applicable.
• Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
• Support in‑store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail and service recommendations.
• Work collaboratively with skin therapists and retail team for a holistic guest experience.
• Share benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards, including safety, sanitation, infection control, and state board guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Use booking systems to schedule guests for returns and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintain store operational standards: cleanliness of salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous development.
• Adhere to Ulta Beauty dress code and protect company assets through loss prevention best practices.
• Execute other operational tasks as directed.

• Cosmetology license.
• Basic understanding of salon techniques across all service categories or aptitude to develop skills.
• Basic understanding of equipment and chemicals used in technical work.
• Basic understanding to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Developed communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.

• Work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Frequent mobility during shift.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting.
• Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
• Frequent use of a computer, telephonic devices, and related office and cosmetology supplies.
