Job OverviewThis individual contributor role works under general direction, coordinating all claim resolution activities in accordance with company protocols. The position requires regular communication with customers and insureds and may have regional, industry segment or company-wide scope of responsibility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Manages an inventory of highly complex professional services claims, performing investigations, developing resolution strategies, and authorizing disbursements within authority limits.
- Ensures exceptional customer service by managing all aspects of the claim, achieving cycle‑time and quality standards, providing timely updates and responding promptly to inquiries.
- Verifies coverage and establishes reserves through policy review and collaboration with coverage counsel.
- Leads investigations to determine compensability, liability and covered damages, gathering pertinent information and working with experts and other parties.
- Resolves claims by collaborating with internal and external partners, negotiating complex settlements, and authorizing payments within the scope of authority.
- Establishes and manages claim budgets, selecting and overseeing resources to achieve timely resolution and high‑quality service.
- Identifies subrogation, salvage or potential fraud opportunities and coordinates with recovery resources for further investigation.
- Maintains all company protocols, documents files properly, and ensures claims are resolved and paid timely.
- Informs senior leadership of significant risks and losses by completing loss summaries and preparing concise presentations.
- Maintains subject‑matter expertise and ensures compliance with state/local regulations and industry trends.
- Mentors and trains less experienced claim professionals.
- In‑depth knowledge of commercial insurance products, policy language, and claim practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Analytical and investigative mindset with sound business decision‑making ability.
- Strong work ethic with time‑management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑productivity environment.
- Proven negotiation skills for complex settlements.
- Experience interpreting professional services insurance policies and coverage.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities in evolving situations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and readiness to learn business software.
- Ability to value diverse opinions and ideas.
- Bachelor’s degree or CRTB
- At least six years of relevant experience, preferably in professional liability claim handling.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire where required.
- Prior negotiation experience.
- Professional designations preferred (e.g., CPCU). .only full stop
In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to provide a reasonable estimate of compensation. Where applicable nationwide, the base pay range is $72,000 to $141,000 annually, based on experience, skills, and location.
