Industrial Manufacturing Engineer - Wytheville Facility (Transformers) Position Overview
This role is “hybrid” to begin. We need an experienced Industrial Engineer with Lean, Process Improvement and experience in building Standard Operating Procedures in all areas of the business.
This position will begin in evaluating & improving all existing processes from customer input to Order to manufacturing launch. Once the new facility in Virginia is in set-up mode they will then parallel / switch to assist the Operations and Engineering personnel on safety, ergonomics, plant layout, optimization and employee training.
Exercise a technical background to solve complex problems with troubleshooting and new development of processes for ever changing products being built in our factory. Act with safety, efficiency, quality, and productivity to ensure that our products and systems meet stated industry requirements.
This is a start-up facility and extension of the highly successful JST Power Equipment company ()
Responsibilities and Duties- Coordinate with internal team for manufacturing engineering activities on the production floor.
- Develops, designs and plans equipment and machine layouts, workflow, and safety precautions to enhance utilization of plant and manufacturing facilities
- Evaluates worker productivity and recommends improvements to increase labor efficiency and operating performance, reduce waste and delays, and promote cost control/reductions.
- Develops performance indicators to measure plant and equipment capacity output and identify equipment and process flow bottlenecks.
- Establishes accident prevention measures and plans and schedules training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operation and ensures compliance with established industry safety and design standards and guidelines.
- Other job functions include PDCA, 8D, Lean improvements, as well as developing process improvements to lower cost, increase quality, and deliver a better, repeatable product faster.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, materials, electrical engineering or related.
- Resolves technical problems and recommends production improvement.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Access, Word, Excel)
- Solid Works SAP experience with a focus on Custom manufactured to Order products, taking a concept through to final design and fabrication.
- Advanced knowledge and practice with testing requirements per applicable IEEE standards.
- Able to present technical information.
