Job Title:
Load Planner & Lead Dispatcher
We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on Load Planner & Lead Dispatcher to run the day‑to‑day operations of our aggregate truck hauling fleet. This is a leadership position that combines strategic load planning, dispatching, driver management, safety compliance, and close coordination with sales, plants, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities Load Planning & Dispatching- Build and optimize daily load plans and driver schedules to maximize asset utilization and on‑time delivery
- Work directly with customers to book deliveries
- Cover or back up ticket window as needed
- Partner with Maintenance Manager to prioritize repairs, schedule PMs, and minimize downtime
- Track daily driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs) and repair requests
- Lead safety training, driver meetings, and toolbox talks
- Enforce PPE, company policies and DOT regulations
- Handle driver coaching, disciplinary action, and conflict resolution
- Recruit and retain qualified drivers as needed
- Track, execute, and own the Trucking Department’s annual goals and operating plan
- Deliver daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports to senior leadership
- Assist with end‑of‑day closeout (credit card, cash, COD reconciliation) when needed
- Maintain accurate records for driver files and compliance
- Step in and perform any other duties assigned by the Aggregate Business Manager, VP, or company officers
- Minimum 5+ years of trucking dispatch, load planning, or fleet management experience (aggregate/hauling experience strongly preferred)
- Proven leadership skills – able to lead, motivate, and hold a team of drivers accountable
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours-of‑Service, ELDs, and driver safety/compliance
- Proficient with trucking software, Excel, and general office programs
- Experience or working knowledge of aggregate materials and end‑dump / dump trailer operations
- Outstanding customer service and communications skills (phone, email, and in‑person)
- Ability to work early mornings, split shifts if needed, and remain on‑call for urgent issues
