Salary Information (commensurate with qualifications):
Assistant Professor:
Annual Minimum $91,700 – Annual Maximum $154,000.
Associate Professor:
Annual Minimum $105,400 – Annual Maximum $177,100.
Professor:
Annual Minimum $121,300 – Annual Maximum $203,700.
The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) develops, monitors, and refines the clinical education components of the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) curriculum. The DCE manages student placement and success in all Academic Fieldwork Education Experiences (AFEE). Core duties include planning, coordinating, facilitating, administering, and monitoring activities on behalf of the program and in coordination with contracted clinical facilities and educators.
The DCE selects and evaluates clinical education sites and facilitates ongoing development of clinical sites and faculty. The DCE ensures the school’s compliance with AFEE requirements set forth by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
- Scholarship of Teaching:
Develop course materials in a specialized area of expertise, including syllabi and instructional methods.
Teach MSOT courses, meeting program standards for student and peer evaluations.
Develop and administer student assessments (exams, quizzes, assignments).
Enhance teaching expertise through continuing education.
Participate in ongoing curriculum and program assessment.
Maintain licensure and certification as appropriate. - University and Community Service/Clinical Practice:
Advise students.
Assist in recruitment and admissions.
Attend program events including orientation and commencement.
Perform committee assignments at school and university level.
Engage in program‑related community service. - Professional Growth, Scholarly, and Creative
Activities:
Engage in scholarly activity and maintain an active research agenda.
Supervise and mentor student research.
Maintain professional development in research. - Administrative Responsibilities:
Assist Dean with ACOTE compliance and Annual Accreditation Report (AAR).
Create relationships with external stakeholders to secure clinical sites and instructors.
Develop and oversee policies and procedures related to clinical education, including the Clinical Education Handbook.
Prepare clinical site slots, position procedures, and site‑specific requirements.
Foster communication and development of clinical instructors.
Monitor, evaluate, and refine the MSOT curriculum.
Evaluate student performance and facilitate quality learning experiences. - Additional Duties:
Understand accreditation standards and adhere to policies.
Conduct oneself consistently with the university’s mission and philosophy.
Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Earned doctoral or master’s degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). Eligible doctoral degrees include OT‑D or similar. Other academic doctorates (PhD, EdD, DSc) may be considered if associated with occupational therapy practice and meeting minimum practice requirements.
Must be a licensed occupational therapist in Washington State or eligible for licensure.
Minimum 3 years (5 preferred) of documented clinical practice experience as an OT. - Experience:
Preferred prior experience as an academic fieldwork coordinator. Additional preferred experience includes teaching, administrative experience in clinical practice, record of service to the profession or community, record of scholarship or potential to engage in scholarly activity, and experience working with rural and underserved populations. - Desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
