About the Role

Underwrites new and renewal Commercial and Industrial (C&I) and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) credit requests, including working capital lines, asset‑based lines, commercial real estate loans (owner occupied and investor), and equipment financing, primarily for moderate‑to‑complex enterprises with revenues generally greater than $5 million. Collaborates with Commercial Portfolio Managers, Client Solutions Managers, and Commercial Relationship Managers to accurately present findings, including business rationale and risk mitigations, to obtain credit approval and meet customer needs.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze business, industry and financial data to identify key business and financial risks that may impact repayment prospects.
  • Prepare timely, concise and accurate credit recommendations, including quantitative components within the underwriting narrative and accurate risk rating using Dual Risk Rating models.
  • Identify and mitigate all exceptions to Bank‑tracked policies, guidelines and compliance regulations.
  • Ensure accurate loan coding consistent with the nature of the borrowing relationship and terms of the credit.
  • Monitor borrower financial performance, spread financial statements and calculate covenants in accordance with Bank Guidelines.
  • Coordinate borrower notifications and approvals to resolve violations in a timely manner.
  • Offer insights into customer financial needs and opportunities using relationship expansion tools.
  • Participate in customer and prospect calls, and shadow manage a portfolio as part of training and development.
  • Oversee and review credit reports prepared by other underwriters, ensuring high report quality and adherence to a standardized QC Checklist.
  • Maintain compliance with all bank regulations and policies, keep up to date on regulatory changes, and complete all required training.
  • Coaching, mentoring or training others as a subject‑matter expert.
  • Actively promote and embody Columbia Bank’s corporate culture and vision of becoming the “Business Bank of Choice”.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • 7‑10 years of commercial underwriting/credit analysis experience (or relevant lending experience).
  • Advanced analytical, problem‑solving, accounting, financial statement spreading, and cash‑flow analysis skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit policies, procedures, practices and documentation.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and related software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Time‑management skills, ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective collaboration across the company to manage internal and external customer relationships.
  • Interest in training and presenting to small and large audiences.
Pay Range

$80,051.00 to $. Compensation depends on a variety of non‑discriminatory factors including job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation.

Primary Location

Ability to work fully onsite at 10 N 5th Avenue, Yakima, WA 98902.
