ABA Therapy / Behavioral Therapy
The Applied Behavior Analysis program at Catholic Charities provides intensive services in a clinic-based model. The Behavior Technician is responsible for providing direct services to children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in therapeutic setting. This role serves children ages 2-6 and their families.
Responsibilities:- Implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) procedures to teach skills and address disruptive behavior under the direction of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
- Provide ABA services in natural and therapeutic environments, using behavior modification, skill acquisition, and other designated treatment approaches to support skill generalization and successful transitions to other services. This can include working with children exhibiting tantrum behaviors, aggression and self-injurious behaviors using procedures identified through a functional behavior assessment to address the behavior by its function.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for children and families, including appropriate supervision and adherence to safety and cleanliness standards.
- Support program activities and classroom routines, including lesson planning, preparing developmentally appropriate activities, and assisting with the cleanliness and safety of indoor and outdoor environments.
- Completes intake assessments, develops individualized program exemplars or materials, and participates in the collection of data for a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) under the supervision of a Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA)/Licensed Assistant Behavior Analyst (LABA).
- Responsible for collecting and recording data on all current targets, treatment goals and relevant documentation.
- Lead therapeutic activities under the supervision and direction of the BCBA
- Participate in team discussion regarding current clients' programs and their implementation
- Observe confidentiality and HIPAA standards in all activities
- Report suspected incidents of child abuse or neglect to the BCBA and follow mandated reporting protocols.
- Follow all protocols set up for the ABA program and child interventions and treatment.
Job Requirements:

Physical Requirements:This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking and hearing and adequate vision on a regular basis to perform job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 80% of the time. In addition, approximately 20% of the time may include physically assisting a child exhibiting behavior problems to ensure the safety of other children and staff.
There may be times that sitting on the floor or in small chairs will be required. The position also requires ability to drive with adequate vision.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2 years of experience working with preschool children with behavioral and developmental concerns including Autism Spectrum Disorder preferred
- Bilingual/Bicultural (Spanish / English) preferred
- Possess strong classroom and behavioral management skills with children with ASD
- Ability to work successfully in a multi-disciplinary team
- Computer and word processing competence
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must have or be willing to obtain a Certified Behavior Technician license with the Washington State Department of Health
- First Aid & CPR certification preferred
- Clearance if criminal background check and finger printing check when required
Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Fridays 8am-12pm (36 hour week)
Wage Range:$20.00 - $24.50 per hour, depending on experience
