As an Associate Material Controller at our Spartanburg, South Carolina location, you will perform material management activities for major capital equipment and materials under close supervision or clearly defined procedures.
You will work with a knowledgeable and supportive team, handling field material control transactions for purchased materials and equipment. You will demonstrate basic knowledge of materials management concepts and practices and ensure task completion.
Reporting directly to the Manager of Supply Chain Integration, Life Sciences North America, and indirectly to the assigned Project Procurement Manager or Materials Lead, you will support Jacobs’ projects and coordinate with project or departmental personnel.
Here’s What You’ll Do- Develop an understanding of material control processes, procedures, tools, procurement principles, and supplier relationship expectations.
- Utilize established policies, procedures, systems, and tools.
- Review shipment‑release requests and ensure authorizations comply with terms and purchase orders.
- Advise stakeholders on creating and initiating shipment releases.
- Administer Material Receiving Reports, Material Issue Requests, and OS&D reports.
- Maintain a register of materials requiring preservation activities.
- Evaluate material control problem areas and apply remedies.
- Maintain documentation in a repository.
- Identify and advise on material control risks.
- Participate in the coordination of OS&D resolution.
- Work under close supervision; no direct reports.
- Coordinate with project or departmental personnel in the performance of material control activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, construction, supply chain, operations management, or equivalent project experience.
- 2–5 years of experience in capital equipment material control is preferred.
- Experience in advanced manufacturing projects is ideal.
- Proficiency with MS Office tools, especially intermediate‑to‑advanced Excel skills.
- 2+ years using materials management software or enterprise purchasing systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Smart Materials).
- Expressed interest in a career in construction management or procurement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Strong problem‑solving and organizational abilities.
- Drive to solve complex problems.
- Ability to work on‑site in Spartanburg, SC.
