Position Summary

Responsible for managing restaurant operations in conjunction with or in the absence of the Restaurant Manager. Use discretion in daily management decisions with accountability for ensuring effective execution of the Service Profit Chain (SPC) and Brand Promise. Primary responsibilities are to provide excellent internal and external service, build restaurant sales and profit, and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Internal Service: Recruit, select, train, develop, and evaluate restaurant employees. Monitor staffing levels, enforce training systems, develop internal candidates for management, and maintain a friendly, fun, clean, and safe restaurant environment. Treat all employees with care and respect, motivate and inspire high performance, and recognize and reward achievements. Understand and utilize JIB systems, processes, and tools, and comply with all state and federal labor laws and regulations.
  • External Service: Manage daily activities to achieve operational excellence. Ensure guests receive an exceptional experience through proper training and accountability for excellent guest service and food quality. Monitor adherence to JIB systems, procedures, and food safety requirements; improve practices continuously; interact with guests; respond to concerns promptly; and maintain a positive brand image.
  • Higher Profits: Partner with the Restaurant Manager to analyze operational and financial performance each period (I&E, quality and service reports, health inspections, HACCP, etc.). Identify trends, develop action plans to improve results, and use data to influence business decisions. Monitor costs, budget adherence, and restaurant goals while protecting the JIB brand.

Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year as a Shift Leader or Assistant Manager with 100% workstation certification; or 3 years as an Assistant Manager with some P&L responsibility.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Minimum age 18, completed Assistant Manager training, Serv Safe certified, valid driver’s license, insurance, and personal vehicle for bank deposits or travel. Strong interpersonal, math, analytical, and organizational skills, plus computer literacy.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand/walk 85–95% of shift, lift 10–65 lbs, move throughout the restaurant, operate equipment and a vehicle, and use a keyboard.
