The Fabrication Technician will work directly with service managers, foremen, and service writers as needed. The technician must perform minimally supervised work in frame repairs, axle alignment, fabrication, and mechanical repairs to suspension, axles, brakes, and mounting of fifth wheels, winches, PTOs, fenders, etc.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS AND PRINCIPALACCOUNTABILITIES
- Use all trade tools with proficiency, including shop machines, power tools, alignment equipment, welders, torches, press, cut‑off saw, etc.; maintain personal tools.
- Read and understand blueprints, technical publications, service manuals, and bulletins; use this information to perform work.
- Determine the usability of parts and list order requirements.
- Write detailed write‑ups for each repair performed.
- Use or learn to use the computer to punch on and off repair orders and electronic time clocks.
- Perform repairs within accepted time standards.
- Perform all tasks safely.
- Train helpers productively.
- Follow Bruckner policy and procedures.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Steward company tools and resources.
- Maintain required certifications (company, OEM, or federal).
- Perform miscellaneous functions as needed (clean up, salvage yard work, etc.).
- High school diploma desired.
- Minimum 2‑5 years as a mechanic and/or alignment professional, depending on competence level.
- Good interpersonal skills to interact positively with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
- Ability to read and write in English and understand computer‑generated reports, office reports, invoices, etc.
- Ability to operate diagnostic devices, PCs, and laptops.
- Good upper and lower toolbox with all needed hand tools (including ½‑inch air impact wrench).
- Ability to maneuver around, in, on, and under trucks to inspect and diagnose problems and repairs.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
- Lift 50 pounds to waist height and 25 pounds to shoulder height.
The working environment includes high stress, multitasking, and requires regular, predictable attendance. The position requires handling multiple tasks smoothly and maintaining safety standards.
