Brief Position Description
The Operations Coordinator will design and implement crop plans and harvest schedules for a 2‑acre flower farm in Cowiche Canyon. The role leads a diverse and dedicated team of volunteers to grow healthy and abundant flowers for the floriculture program, fostering meaningful connections between people and nature. A key component of the position is Farmers Market outreach on Sundays.
Day in Life of JVIn peak season (March–October), the schedule adapts to Mother Nature: harvesting mainly in the cool of morning on hot days or after dew has dried on cooler ones, with flexibility to accommodate volunteers. The day starts with a morning team meeting, followed by harvest, seeding, planting, or other farm tasks. Lunch is followed by 30 minutes of office time to organize the next day’s tasks.
Afternoons return to fieldwork, ending with tending equipment and resetting for the next day. Off‑season (Nov–Feb) focuses on harvesting, preparing winter wreaths, and planning, ordering, graphic design, education, and program development for the upcoming year. The role balances staying focused, planning ahead, and creating a welcoming space for volunteers, whether they are individuals or groups such as incarcerated youth or employees from local businesses.
