Lead Youth Development Professional – Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains, Inc.

Job Information

  • Classification: Part Time, Non-Exempt
  • Mission: To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
Job Summary

The Lead Youth Development Professional plans, organizes, implements, supervises, and evaluates daily programs and activities for youth, overseeing youth safety and program delivery.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and on-the-spot and reflective feedback to Youth Development Professionals and/or Volunteers.
  • Plan and oversee the delivery of a broad range of quality programs and special events for a program area.
  • Ensure implementation of the program schedule and planned impact programs.
  • Commit to youth safety, including adequate supervision and a safe, welcoming environment.
  • Foster effective communication with parents, community, and school.
  • Assist youth with behavioral challenges, supporting corrective methods and plans.
  • Maintain cleanliness, attractiveness, and safety of members, properties, and equipment.
  • Enforce rules, model positive behavior, and serve as a friend and mentor for young people.
  • Oversee daily operations of recreation areas, including safety equipment and facilities upkeep.
  • Organize and facilitate recreational activities: games, fitness events, arts and crafts, and musical instruction.
  • Encourage participation, forming healthy relationships, and ensure fair treatment for all members.
  • Assess group dynamics and collaborate with leadership to create desired outcomes.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, incident reports, progress evaluations, and activity assessments.
  • Promote collaboration and leadership, encouraging participants to pursue responsibility.
  • Ensure all program activities follow Club policies and procedures.
  • Maintain safety and security of youth in the facility.
  • Attend all monthly staff meetings, biweekly one-on-one meetings, and team meetings.
  • Assist supervisor in creating and accomplishing performance plan goals.
  • Provide daily feedback to supervisor on program and space improvement.
  • Implement the 5 Key Elements for Positive Youth Development.
  • Exhibit the Club values of excellence, impact-driven, teamwork, and good character.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Employment Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Valid CPR certification or ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days of employment (training provided in-house if not current).
  • Commitment to working four days a week.
  • Commitment to creating a class schedule for the upcoming semester and meeting the Boys & Girls Club scheduling needs (if applicable).
  • Commitment to working at the Club during summer.
  • Must be able to work within the Club’s school year operating hours.
  • Must be able to work within the summer operating hours.
  • Must understand, implement, and demonstrate behavior management principles and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club training and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety.
Physical Requirements
  • Capability to observe, interact, and communicate with youth, staff, and volunteers to ensure safety and provide guidance.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods during a shift.
  • Position is safety-sensitive.
