This full‑time (40 hours weekly) position submits Medicare, Medicaid and private health insurance claims for patients residing at the Human Services Center. The incumbent gathers billing information, determines appropriate CPT and ICD codes, enters claims into software or paper forms, electronically files or mails claims, and processes EOBs, remittances, or payments. The role also disputes and resolves denials, tracks claims and payments for accounts receivable, produces revenue and claim status reports monthly, performs accounts payable activities, and assists the Finance Manager with process improvements and financial reporting.
IdealCandidate
Knowledge of CPT and ICD codes; a certified coder is preferred but not required. Experience with electronic medical records. Familiarity with CMS rules, filing insurance claims, and applicable state/federal laws.
Qualifications- Knowledge of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) rules and regulations.
- Experience with filing insurance claims.
- Familiarity with applicable state and federal laws.
- Navigate computer systems and applications, including test environments for new or expanded programs.
- Exercise independent judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
- Problem solve and communicate information effectively.
- Maintain effective working relationships with providers, department officials, and the public.
This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
