Job Summary

We’re looking for a full‑time, staff Bilingual Human Resources Specialist to join our team located in Yankton, SD. The HR Specialist will support day‑to‑day HR operations for DZ Plants employees and contingent workforce, ensuring smooth onboarding, off‑boarding, policy compliance, record‑keeping, employee relations, data reporting, and process improvements. This role requires a fully bilingual individual (Spanish and English) who is detail‑oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple HR responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date employee and organizational data in HRIS or related systems; generate routine and ad‑hoc reports (e.g., headcount, terminations, metrics). Respond to routine correspondence, inquiries, and requests from employees and line managers in both languages.
  • Support core HR transactions including hiring, new‑hire orientation (NHO), compensation changes, benefits enrollment, leaves of absence, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
  • Provide baseline employee relations support: assist in intake and resolution of low‑risk complaints or issues, conduct preliminary investigations, maintain confidentiality, and level when necessary.
  • Deliver training or technical support on relevant HR processes, systems, and compliance topics to managers and employees. Execute and continuously improve the onboarding and off‑boarding processes, ensuring consistent, compliant, and welcoming experience.
  • Contribute to corporate HR initiatives and projects; may lead or coordinate HR projects for the local business unit as assigned. Create, maintain, and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process workflows, and job aids related to HR functions in Spanish and English.

  • Experience with onboarding, off‑boarding, and HR compliance.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, leave administration, and benefits fundamentals.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or plant environment.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, including spoken and written language.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required;
    Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Human Resources Management preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant HR experience required; 4+ years of professional experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and data management.
  • Great attitude and team player.
  • Successful completion of background and drug screening process.
Essential Functions
  • Visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing documents, using a computer, reading, inspecting objects, operating machinery.
  • Balancing, walking, manual dexterity, hearing.
  • Talking, capacity to think, concentrate, and focus for long periods.
  • Ability to read and write complex documents in English and Spanish, and to reason and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to perform all job functions at company’s office or worksite.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $47,040 – $70,560. Comprehensive benefits include medical, Rx, dental, vision coverage; life, AD&D, disability insurance; flexible spending accounts; 100% paid maternity leave up to 12 weeks; parental leave; family leave; other paid time off; voluntary benefits; discount programs (including pet insurance).
